BVB - Michael Zorc about criticism of Dortmund: We don't deserve that

Sports director Michael Zorc has defended BVB's balance sheet in the past ten years in which FC Bayern became champion only, and put into perspective.

In an interview with the SZ, Zorc said that the soon six second places behind the Munich residents had been considered a success since 2013. And: "It may sound strange, but it is a disadvantage if you have to do the expectations that we as BVB should have to stop Bayern."

Rather, BVB had its "job done" with second place. He does not want to see a failure in this: "This is a trap in which we have been maneuvered. I think we don't deserve that."

In addition, the bottom line is not that bad anyway: "We were at least twice close. Once in the first year by Thomas Tuchel, then in the first year by Lucien Favre. ", Zorc recalls.

A way to get better are the direct duels that had been all about Munich for years. "This year we have twelve points behind. If we had won both direct games against Bayern instead of losing both, we would be on par."

ZORC: BVB has to "make it better in direct duels!"

Zorc also attached a reason for the bankruptcy against Bavaria this season: "In both games, we felt clearly disadvantaged by the referees." Nevertheless, the sports director, who retires in summer: "Either way: We have to do better in the direct duels!"
